Magic and Merger

Via the production of a unique software application sensors gather the co-ordinates of the viewer within a gallery space. These co-ordinates are used to affect a projected video. As the viewer moves around and approaches the screen the projected image animates in response. The aim of the work is to question and subvert the relationship between image and individual by allowing the image to ‘see’ the viewer and respond to their presence. The closer the viewer looks, the more the image will ‘look back’. This creating an open discourse of questions. Who is the viewer and who is being viewed? In this way Magic and Merger seeks to highlight the narrative and role the individual invests into digital art.
